UAE Launches Ministry of Family to Improve Work-Life Balance

A new Ministry of Family has been created in the UAE to support and strengthen the family support system and ensure good family-life experiences. Sanaa Suhail will lead the ministry as it steps in to deal with critical areas in family unity, parenting skills, and child welfare. This initiative will also act as a forward motion toward improving the Isle’s regulatory framework for social services, affording even more structured guidance and resources to social workers and organizations.

The establishment of a department in the cabinet to look after the area of child development and social work has generated hope among experts in the field. Family therapist and Counsellor, GEMS Wellington International School, Cindi Santos, stressed that the ministry should cater for mental health, family counseling, and community.; “If the ministry pushes for those policies, it would really change the paradigm in which families view their importance,” she said. Santos said that some of the threats to family stability include lack of communication, poor work-life balance, and unaddressed mental illness, saying the ministry will play a major role in addressing them through workshops and campaigns in partnership with schools and organizations.

Marriage preparation is extremely essential for the initial spark of family life, according to Dr. Amina Al Hamadi, a sociologist, married-preparation programs as well as grants would initiate some significant changes in people’s early marriages. Psychologist Dr. Omar Khaled went as far as identifying the need for policy in social services. So, licensing professionals and standardizing those standards across institutions would improve the quality of ministry support for families.

Nevertheless, they are supposed to work on work-life balance; work towards child right and requirements for vulnerable citizens. Hence, we can say that this new ministry has engaged all the efforts of UAE towards understanding the strengthening of families with parental supports and ensuring proper growth conditions for children in attaining holistic growth. Naturally, this new ministry is expected to have huge repercussions in the lives of most families within the UAE, integrated into a more coherent and supportive society.
