UAE revokes 4 Haj operators’ license, 19 others penalized for violating laws

Haj licenses of four companies in the UAE were revoked by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, endowment, and Zakat on Tuesday, with the authorities also saying that 19 other facilities were penalized for breaching the laws.

The decision was given by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat through the Licensing Committee of the last Haj season (2024) after Pilgrims’ complaints.

There are legal requirements as to the contracts that haj operators have signed with the pilgrims. Standards of the facilities have to be maintained in line with the contract and to meet the expectations because negligence towards pilgrims contradicts the country’s values and its approach, the Authority emphasized.

The Authority also urged operators to develop more value-added services in order to help in convincing the pilgrims to attend Haj.
