The UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) has decided to cultivate the largest coral reef garden in the world along the coast of Fujairah and is going to break a Guinness World Record upon completion.
The largest project in the world will help boost local and international interest in the coral reef and the marine environment.
It would preserve marine life and enhance fisheries, so that increasing tourism in the emirate and attracting divers and nature enthusiasts.
MOCCAE will provide grown corals of various sizes and types. It will also provide technical support and logistics services to the onsite team, such as supplying equipment and materials needed for coral aquaculture and transplantation and sea transportation.
Once installed, the reef garden will fall within a natural protected area less than one nautical mile from the shore.
