The UAE’s cybersecurity council is developing three new policies to strengthen the country’s security. These policies cover cloud computing and data security, Internet of Things security, and cybersecurity operation centers.
They are expected to be released by the end of 2024, along with executive regulations for the ‘encryption’ law aimed at enhancing data transmission security.
Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, the Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, provided this information. These policies are designed to help the UAE become a global center for innovation and artificial intelligence or AI technology.

Dr. Al-Kuwaiti accentuated the need to prevent attacks, identify hackers, and handle them according to global best practices because the digital transformation in the UAE requires enhanced cybersecurity to protect critical sectors from potential attacks, as entities use AI solutions to scout vulnerabilities in digital systems.
In an interview, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti said that the UAE is seen as a model that many countries looking forward to advancing their cybersecurity, especially the data sector as advanced technologies and AI continue to grow.
He also stated that the new policies show that these institutions should be protected from threats and breaches which could involve loss of data, theft of identity, infringement on the intellectual property and principal structures and digital record of the main business.
