UAE residents are receiving fake messages on WhatsApp. The gang which is involved in sending fake messages aims to steal personal information of people including their credit card details.
The Abu Dhabi police has warned public about these fraud messages and asked them not to reveal any important personal information to the criminals.
Also, the Security Information Administration of the Command-ship Affairs Sector forced social media users to secure their accounts especially WhatsApp and warning users that they should not click on any links unless they can verify the sender’s identity as well as they also should not reveal any personal information on untrusted websites.
The Federal Penal Code also punishes traditional “non-electronic” fraud crimes with imprisonment of between one to three months or a fine of between Dh1,000 and Dh30,000.
