I’m sure we’ve all seen the crazy videos coming up from a subcategory on TikTok called “HygieneTok”, (if you go on the tag in TikTok you will be visited with a bunch of videos going into depth on their own special “everything shower” routine), it makes you wonder what from these routines are things that are truly beneficial to your skin?
For example, some people take it a step further and have a lymphatic drainage routine before their shower.
To do this, you’d take either a massage wooden roller or an exfoliating dry brush. People have different techniques for this but the most popular method has been to use the exfoliating brush and go in circular motions throughout your body and have the movement go in an upward direction rather than a downward direction.
This is actually very good for you! But, it is not necessary to do it so often. Having a lymphatic drainage routine once a week or biweekly is more than enough for your body. Any more than that could cause your skin to weaken, damage you, or be completely useless. However, if this is a way for you to feel better and is more like therapy, then, by all means, do it as much as you’d like!
I’ll drop some quick skincare tips here to support your wellness journey and allow you to thrive and feel your best!
Do you often feel the tension in your face? No matter what you do there is that tension headache nagging at you that won’t go away? You need to do face yoga. The name makes it sound like something difficult and bothersome to do but I assure you, the chances of developing an addiction for the feeling you get after are HIGH!
All you need to do for face yoga is use your favorite facial oil. Preferably, you’d use castor oil or rosehip oil. It’s alright to use a serum here, (vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, etc.), but be aware that serums dry out fast and could be slightly irritating. Using a pipette and taking 2-3 drops of facial oil is perfect. After taking the oil and spreading it across your face, start massaging your face. Some people enjoy using their facial muscles and incorporating more complex moves, but you can relax and merely use your hands if you’d like.

You could have the most complex skincare routine the world has ever seen, but if you don’t take care of the inside then how will it show on the outside? Eating right and taking care of your digestive and gut health should be the first step to implement in your skincare routine. It sounds annoying to constantly be told to “eat healthily”, but it really is the secret. I’m sure we’ve all seen the popular meal craze of steak, eggs, and avocado going around. There’s a reason why people are going crazy over it! This one meal has the most important macronutrients that your body needs. Protein, carbohydrates, fats. Proteins are what your hair and nails need. Your skin is also made of protein which makes it 2x as important. Carbohydrates are what your body uses to get energy, they support gut health and at the same time provide you with essential fibers to make digestion easier. Fats are what make your hair shiny and silky and your nails to be unbreakable. They’re a very vital macronutrient that allows vitamins to be absorbed. If you want clear and glassy skin, have balanced meals with protein being the main focus.
Who would’ve thought the cold weather could’ve been a secret to clearer skin!
Being in cold weather minimizes your pores and eliminates oily skin. If you have an oily t-zone, all you have to do is walk in cold weather.
However, this highly depends from person to person. The cold is not recommended for people with eczema, dry skin, psoriasis, etc.
Be careful if you have skin conditions that tend to get worse in the colder months. Use moisturizers and be gentle to your skin.
Double cleansing was all the rage when people online first started discussing it.
It’s a very simple process. First, get an oil-based cleanser and apply it on your face (your face should be dry), afterward start massaging your face with your hands in circular motions, focusing on the areas that have the most blackheads or whiteheads and do this for a minute or two, then use some water and allow the oil cleanser to bubble and foam up. Once you’re done rinse the oil cleanser from your face. Get a water-based cleanser and squeeze out a coin size of product into your hand; let a small amount of water get on the product to emulsify it. Once it gets foamy and bubbly, apply it to your face. Wash your face as you normally would here.
And you’re done! It’s best to follow up with a hydrating moisturizer here to ensure your skin doesn’t feel dry.
Take the time to get to know your skin and buy the sunscreen suitable for it. Some people need a non-comedogenic (a product that doesn’t clog pores) sunscreen, while others need a sunscreen that has more hydration.
Using the right sunscreen will dramatically change your complexion and how your skin grows and reacts. This is important because this is the step that protects your skin. Even if you think you don’t need sunscreen, you still need it.
This quickly sums up the most important tips for having clear skin and what you should implement to have that smooth no-bumps skin.
Loving your skin and having a focus on health rather than beauty will make you thank your current self as you grow older. Sometimes, it’s better to have a 2-step skincare routine than a 10-step one. These complex skincare routines tend to break down your skin barrier at times too. Less is more! Don’t forget to stay consistent.
