The Bahraini football team is quickly making its name known to the world with their latest win against Oman on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
The win came as a shock, everyone on the field was crossing their fingers hoping the team they were supporting was to win. The attendance on the field almost reached 60,000 people. The audience was cheering as loud as they could, and when Bahrain won the field shook with happiness.
Mohamed Marhoon secured the Bahraini team’s win in the match’s last half. As everyone watched intensely, worried about the outcome, Mohamed Marhoon shot his penalty kick which had everyone standing and jumping off their seats.
Mohamed Marhoon is quickly rising to popularity in the football world with his talent and potential. He was the joint-top scorer with three goals and was nicknamed the tournament’s “best player”.
Bahrain’s journey to the finals was no easy one, they had to beat Kuwait to compete against Oman.
Leaders of all GCC countries were happy and quick to congratulate the Bahrain National Team. The match was held in Kuwait City at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium and lasted for a total of 90 minutes with 15 minutes of added time. The match ended with a 1-2. Oman with one goal led by Abdul Rahman Al Mushaif and Bahrain had 2 goals by Mohamed Marhoon and Mohammed Al Musalami.
This is Bahrain’s second time winning the Gulf Cup, their first time was back in 2019.
