Dubai’s Salik PJSC has announced that there are two new Salik toll gates; those are a Business Bay gate and an Al Safa South gate that will commence functioning from this Sunday, 24th November. Consequently, the city of Dubai now boasts ten Salik gates from the previous eight gates that were there.
This means that as much through the Business Bay gate placed on Al Khail Road near the Business Bay Crossing as through the Al Safa South gate, which will be located on Sheikh Zayed Road, between Al Meydan Street and Umm Al Sheif Street, reductions will come to be as big as 16%, in specific cases, on Al Khail Road 12-15%, on Al Rabat Street, 10-16%. Ibrahim Al Haddad, CEO of Salik, added.
In its effort toward sustainability, the two toll gates will be powered 99% by solar. It is a major commitment towards green energy on the part of Salik and more so to the Dubai goals of sustainable growth.
Salik also debunked the circulation on social media of rumors over dynamic pricing for tolls, saying that the toll rate increase must be first approved by the Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai’s Executive Council. The existing charge stands at a fixed Dh4 per vehicle, with passage through the gates.
