India defeated South Africa by 7 runs: ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final

Almost four weeks of T20 cricket entertainment, emotion, and suspense before India is crowned the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 champions. The victory was followed by the announcement of the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the T20I after the match, moreover, it was the first time the Proteas had made it to the World Cup final.

The men in blue secured this very dramatic victory against the first-time finalist side of South Africa after the team found itself on the edge many times in the last couple of years.

The Proteas displayed many great sparks but then the pressure overcame them. Kohli secured one of the brightest T20I career innings ending it with a trophy.
Rohit Sharma, who was part of the successful Indian team that made it through the ICC World Cup season first in South Africa in 2007. It took him seventeen years to do it, but he was able to lift another trophy. This time as a captain, with his children joining the celebration along with him on his last international T20 cricket match.

South Africa made it to the final without losing a single match in the entire tournament, they beat all affiliate sides of Nepal and USA, the Sub-Saharan teams of Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Bangladesh, England, West Indies, and Afghanistan.
Earlier, South Africa did not succeed on seven occasions in the World Cup semi-finals in 20-over and 50-over cricket, and this final had been a dream that appeared unattainable.
“We reached a good position which shows that we are worthy finalists,” said Markram.

For South Africa, their silverware exploration continues. One that they wish is not too far away. As Ian Bishop said: “There is no uncertainty, Aiden, that your time will come in the future.”
