Dubai authorities have officially announced new bus routes connecting Dubai and Sharjah, Bus Route E308. This new bus line will officially be opened for public transportation along the complete distance of the route, starting Friday, May 2, 2025.
New Route E308 Dubai Sharjah Intercity Bus
Route E308 Dubai Sharjah Intercity Bus will travel between the Stadium Bus Station in Dubai and Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah, allowing a new option for commuters traveling between those two cities. This encourages better access and affordability as compared to private vehicles, reducing congestion at peak hours.
The one-way charge set per passenger is Dh12, affordable for daily commuting, student, and resident types who travel back and forth between Dubai and Sharjah. This added route also fits within the larger goal of government to promote the use of public transport instead of personal vehicles, thus reducing road traffic and environmental effects.
Sharjah is the most visited place to travel to Dubai, with thousands traveling daily to work, for learning, or personal business. The new Intercity Bus UAE Route E308 is expected to address this huge commuter journey and facilitate their daily travels.
All Over Enhancements in the Public Bus Network
RTA has also announced its total changes on various bus routes, besides the initiation of Route E308. These changes shall also be effective May 2, and the main point for adjusting those routes is to provide smoother, more efficient service and better focus on connecting major urban hubs with residential areas.
All adjustments, therefore, support the customer’s riding experience by improving service coverage, changing routes based on commuter demands, and the fusion of various modes of UAE public transport, according to RTA.
Among the changes are:
Route Changes Dubai Sharjah Intercity Bus:
- E17: From now on, Route 17 will terminate at Baniyas Square Metro Station instead of the Al Sabkha Bus Station, allowing passengers to get access to a better metro service.
- Route 24 has been rerouted within the Al Nahda 1 area; this improves coverage and access within this high-density residential community.
- Route 44 is now being rerouted via Al Rebat Street, providing direct service to Dubai Festival City, one of the major shopping and recreation destinations.
- Route 56 will be extended to the DWC Staff Village to provide better access to public transport for employees working at Dubai World Central (Al Maktoum International Airport) and surrounding areas.
- There is a new stop added to Routes 66 & 67 at Al Ruwayah Farm area, which provides last-mile connectivity for residents and workers in remote areas.
- Route 32C, which previously operated between Al Jafiliya Bus Station and Al Satwa Bus Station, has been curtailed. Passengers traveling to Al Satwa are advised to take Route F27 for continued service.
- The termination of Route C26 has now been reshuffled to remove Al Jafiliya Bus Station, creating a much better integration factor with the metro service.
- Route E16 is now terminating at the Union Bus Station instead of Al Sabkha Bus Station to provide better access to one of the central transit hubs of Dubai.
- Rerouting from Kuwait Street was thus worked for a different urban corridor, while Rail F12 was shortened between Al Satwa Roundabout and Al Wasl Park.
- Termination of Route F27 has once again been shifted towards Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2, aligning with all alterations to be made regarding Route C26.
- With a change in routing through Jebel Ali Industrial Area, the F47 route has likely benefited the workers in this vast industrial zone.
- With Route F54, essential transport connections can now be provided for the workforce in this area by extending service to the new JAFZA South labour camp.
- Route X92 is rerouted once more to terminate at Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 1, thus stressing a more centralized bus-metro connection service.
Vision for Seamless Connectivity
The changes form part of the RTA’s strategic intentions to harmonize public transport with an exceedingly fast-paced evolution in urbanization and mobility needs in Dubai. The RTA looks to provide better service to areas that are either poorly served or newly developed, ensuring that public transportation keeps in pace with urban growth. Following a statement to the public, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency Adel Shakeri emphasized the authority’s constant focus on enhancing intermodal connectivity.
“Public Bus Network expansion by RTA and their integration with Metro, Tram, and Marine transport will be continuously improved. Intermodal connectivity increases the public transport attractiveness for mobility across the Emirate,” Shakeri stated.
The RTA intends to align with the larger vision of Dubai to become globally recognized for smart and sustainable transportation. With Dubai preparing for major international events and with a rapidly growing population on its heels, able and accessible public transport will be one of the cornerstones of Dubai’s development agenda.
Public Transport as a Preferred Option
Dubai has been focusing on high-tech transport infrastructure to help achieve public transportation goals. Metro, tram, and marine transport systems have been awarded much acclaim for their quality of service and efficient transport. Nevertheless, important as they are, buses remain key actors on the ground, with a special nod to services connecting outlying areas outside of the neighborhood, industrial areas, and the neighboring emirates of Sharjah and Ajman.
With improvements in bus operations and the initiation of intercity services such as the Dubai Sharjah Intercity Bus, the RTA has been quick to meet actual commuter needs while simultaneously looking at what would be required in the not-too-distant future. Far and foremost, the good characteristic of the flexibility of the buses is what makes them an important part of the overall public transport system.
Also, the actual connection between the new bus service UAE and the stations of the metro and tram will boost “last-mile connectivity”, thus easing the journey for riders by minimizing their walking or waiting time.
Final Thoughts
Dubai Sharjah Intercity Bus will start its service on May 2, with implications for commuters throughout Dubai Sharjah Travel. The RTA’s official website, mobile application, and customer service centers provide real-time information and route-planning tools to guarantee that local residents can comfortably cope with the changes.
The expansion of the bus network is, therefore, a significant milestone for Dubai’s commitment to intelligent urban mobility. E308 and all-around alterations in the bus system are signs that public transport is becoming a propitious choice for everyday travel-quick, environmentally friendly, and highly integrated.
