The venue for the FIFA world cup 2022 has been unveiled by Qatar. The stadium is known as “the vagina stadium” because of is the shape. This is to be the first to be completed just before the tournament.
Al-Waraqah will be hosting the tournament up to the quarterfinals, with its cooling technology. This will keep the temperature cool for 40,000 fans coming to watch the game.
Al-Waraqah stadium was designed by Dame Zaha Hadid late. He was a British-Iraqi, who died of a sudden heart attack in 2016 aged 65.
His design first came into the light in 2013, it was said that the design was an inspiration from flowing shape of a Dhow boat which is a traditional Arabian pearl diving and fishing vessel.
But when the images went viral, the design was known as “a vagina” by the commentators.
On these type of statements, Zaha got very angry and released a statement saying “it is very embarrassing that the designs are being pictured as a woman’s private part, it is nonsense to come up with such stuff. Everything that has a hole in it will be pictured a vagina? This is so ridiculous.”
Dame Zaha Hadid also had some impressive piece of works. The Aquatics Centre at the 2012 London Olympics, the Guangzhou Opera House in China and the MAXXI Museum in Italy. According to a statement, if this guy had done this project as well, the criticism will not be of the same level.
