If you live in Sharjah and work in Dubai, you may be praying by two timetables in one day. The box below is for Sharjah city, with today’s Fajr to Isha times and the Hijri date.

Calculated by Aladhan using its Dubai (UAE) method, not an officially issued timetable. Times can differ by a minute or two from your local mosque.
Sharjah keeps its own calendar
Sharjah has its own Department of Islamic Affairs, which publishes a daily Hijri calendar and prayer timetable for the emirate. That is the official reference for Sharjah’s mosques. The box above is a calculation for Sharjah city made with the UAE setting of the Aladhan service, so it should sit within a minute or two of the department’s times, but where they differ, follow the department or your mosque.
For central Sharjah, Al Majaz and Al Nahda, the box is a fair guide. Your morning Fajr at home and your Dhuhr at the office in Dubai will be very close, though not always identical, because the two cities are neighbours on the same stretch of coast.
Friday prayer in Sharjah
Sharjah has a history of setting its own Friday timings. When most of the UAE moved Friday prayer to 1:15 pm in 2022, Sharjah kept its schedule, following the Hijri calendar approved for the emirate. From 2 January 2026, Awqaf set 12:45 pm for the Friday sermon and prayer in mosques across the UAE, but we have not found a Sharjah notice confirming the same time, so the Friday row in the box points you to the Sharjah department instead of showing a time. If you pray Jummah in Sharjah, confirm the time on the Sharjah department’s channels or at your mosque before you rely on it.
Khorfakkan, Kalba and the east coast
Sharjah is not one block of land. Khorfakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn are Sharjah towns on the east coast, separated from Sharjah city by the mountains and by parts of Fujairah. Being further east, they see the sun rise and set earlier than Sharjah city, so the times in this box do not apply there. The Fujairah page is a closer guide for the east coast, and the Sharjah department’s timetable or the local mosque is the one to follow.
Three Sharjah mosques
Al Noor Mosque, on the Khalid Lagoon near Al Majaz, is known for its Ottoman-style domes and twin minarets, and the Sharjah Centre for Cultural Communication has run guided tours there for non-Muslim visitors. King Faisal Mosque, opened in 1987 in the city centre, is one of the emirate’s best-known landmarks. Sharjah Mosque, opened in May 2019 at the junction of Emirates Road and Mleiha Road, is the largest mosque in the emirate. Tour times and visitor rules change, so check with the mosque or the organiser before visiting.
For a family day out around the lagoon and the Corniche, our list of free places to visit in Sharjah covers Al Majaz Waterfront and nearby spots.
Ramadan in Sharjah
Iftar in Sharjah is at Maghrib and the fast begins at Fajr, both in the box. If you commute, remember that iftar follows the place where you are when the sun sets, so a long drive home on the E11 or the E311 can mean breaking your fast on the road. Taraweeh and Qiyam arrangements are set by the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs and individual mosques, and the department’s site and social channels are where to look once they are announced. Our UAE prayer times page covers imsak, Hanafi Asr and adhan versus iqama.
Frequently asked questions
Do Khorfakkan and Kalba use Sharjah city prayer times?
No. They are part of Sharjah but sit on the east coast, so their times are earlier than Sharjah city’s; check the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs timetable or the local mosque.
Is the Friday prayer time in Sharjah the same as in Dubai?
The UAE-wide time set from 2 January 2026 is 12:45 pm for the sermon, but Sharjah has historically followed its own approved calendar for Fridays, so confirm with the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs or your mosque.
Why might my mosque in Sharjah pray a few minutes later than the box?
The box shows the adhan time, when each prayer’s time begins. The congregation starts at the iqama, which the mosque sets a few minutes later.
