Planning a trip from India to Abu Dhabi? Your visa might not cost you anything this year. Abu Dhabi’s tourism authority just rolled out a new programme covering the full UAE entry visa cost for eligible Indian travellers. Free visa, real savings, but there are conditions attached, and they matter more than the headline suggests.
Here’s everything you need to know before booking anything.
What’s Actually On Offer
The Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi is behind this one, and the offer is straightforward on paper. Book a holiday in Abu Dhabi through a participating travel partner, and DCT Abu Dhabi covers your UAE entry visa in full.
The programme runs from August 1 to October 31, 2026. During its pilot phase, it’s capped at 20,000 visas total.
Not unlimited, in other words. First-come, first-covered.

Why Does It Matters
India isn’t a minor market for Abu Dhabi’s tourism strategy. It’s one of the most important ones.
Abdulla Yousuf, Director of International Operations at DCT Abu Dhabi, put it plainly: “India continues to be one of our most important international markets, and we remain committed to working closely with our travel partners to make Abu Dhabi even more accessible for Indian travellers.”
There’s a clear logic behind covering the visa cost. It removes an upfront expense that might otherwise make travellers hesitate, and it gives travel partners a genuine reason to push Abu Dhabi over competing destinations.
“We look forward to welcoming more visitors as they spend longer exploring Abu Dhabi’s culture, entertainment, hospitality and natural attractions,” Yousuf added.
This isn’t happening in isolation, either. It follows a string of recent moves by Abu Dhabi to strengthen air connectivity, deepen travel trade partnerships, and open up new opportunities specifically for Indian visitors.
Who Actually Qualifies
This is where the fine print matters. You need to be an Indian passport holder departing from India, and your booking needs to run through a participating travel partner. That’s non-negotiable, you can’t apply for this independently.
Beyond that, your booking must include:
- A minimum of three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel
- A return flight from India
- Booking through a participating travel partner or online travel agency
Miss any one of those, and the offer doesn’t apply. This was built specifically around travel partners and OTAs, not a standalone application process travellers can access on their own.
How The Visa Actually Gets Covered
Travel partners have two routes here. The first is working through a DCT-appointed destination management company. In this setup, DCT Abu Dhabi covers the visa cost directly.
The second route lets travel partners stick with their existing DMC relationships instead of switching. In that case, DCT Abu Dhabi reimburses Dh285 for each visa issued.
Either way, the traveller ends up with a covered visa cost. The mechanics just differ depending on which route the travel partner chooses.
If you’re planning an Abu Dhabi trip from India before the end of October, it’s worth checking with your travel agent whether they’re part of this programme. The savings are real, but only if the booking runs through the right channel from the start.
