The Dubai Fitness Challenge returns on October 31, and this is its 10th edition. The idea hasn’t changed since 2017: 30 minutes of movement a day, for 30 days. Walk, run, cycle, play a sport or join a class. Nobody’s checking which one you pick.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, launched it, and more than 16 million people have taken part across the first nine editions. That’s a lot of trainers hitting the pavement.
This year there are three free Fitness Villages and over 23 Community Fitness Hubs, with thousands of activities pitched at different ages and fitness levels. The villages are the big draw, so here’s what each one offers.
Al Warqa’a Park: Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village
Think of this as the family option. The park has a 2.8km track for walking, jogging or cycling, and a running club if you’d rather have company. There’s also an obstacle course, which is more fun than it sounds.
Group classes run on the main stage. Kids get their own fitness zone, and there’s a ladies-only area. You’ll also find mixed-use gym equipment and courts for basketball, football, volleyball, tennis and padel.
Courts can be reserved ahead of time. Bicycle rentals are available too, though those may carry a charge.
Zabeel Park: Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village
Central Dubai, and the most varied programme of the three. The village has a three-tier gym, with separate areas for different kinds of training. Want to sweat hard? Boxing, MMA and HIIT are on the list. Prefer something gentler? Yoga and Pilates sit alongside circuit training and the main-stage group sessions.
Kids’ activities are covered, and the courts handle basketball, cricket and padel. Book those in advance.

Kite Beach: DP World 30×30 Fitness Village
This is the one for people who can’t face a workout without a sea view. Spinning and rebounder sessions bring the energy. MMA and strength and conditioning cover the harder end, while yoga and Pilates cover the rest. Beach volleyball and basketball are there for anyone who’d rather play than train, and padel courts round things out.
Beginners and regulars share the space comfortably. Reserve a court early if you’ve got a particular session in mind.
How To Make The Most Of It
Here’s a thought. Thirty minutes a day is a low bar, and that’s the point. You don’t need to commit to marathon sessions, just show up consistently for a month.
Pick the village that fits your routine, not the one that sounds most impressive. A park ten minutes from home beats a beach you’ll only visit once.
