Bahrain’s AI learning platform for state schools, B-SERA, is very close to launch, but no date has been announced. For now, parents do not need to do anything.
Education Minister Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma tried out the system on 20 October, the Bahrain News Agency reported. Five days later he told Al Ayam newspaper that it had reached the final stage before going live, according to News of Bahrain.
What B-SERA is
The name stands for Smart Educational Remote Assistant. When the ministry first announced the project in May, Gulf Daily News reported that it described B-SERA as one of the largest projects it had ever taken on. The stated aim is to keep Bahrain’s schools in step with the use of AI in education worldwide.
Students, teachers and parents will each get their own account.
What each group will be able to do
Students
In the first phase, students will be able to use AI to go back over lessons, build study plans, and read summaries and explanations of topics. An intelligent assistant will set interactive quizzes and assessments. It will then give feedback on the results, so students can see where they are weak.
Teachers
Teachers will get tools for lesson preparation, educational plans and teaching methods. The platform will also provide digital channels linking teachers, students and parents.
Parents
Parents will be able to follow their children’s academic progress, according to the ministry. News of Bahrain, citing Al Ayam, reported that this will include grades, school observations and notes on behaviour. Those details come from that one report, so treat them as likely rather than confirmed.
The points store
The same report said students may earn points for completed homework and assignments, and spend them in an in-platform store. The rules for this have not been confirmed.

How it has been built
News of Bahrain reported that preparing the platform involved analysing and bringing together school education data. It also involved developing both teaching and administrative services. The ministry expects to add more services beyond the first phase.
B-SERA builds on earlier digital work. In May 2020 the ministry rolled out Microsoft Office 365 and Teams for remote learning. B-SERA is presented as the next step, bringing AI-supported services into the formal school system.
What it means for your family
There is no public launch date. There is also no published timetable showing which schools or year groups will get access first.
If your child attends a government school, watch for messages from the school or the ministry’s official channels. That is where sign-in details are most likely to be shared.
Private schools are unclear
The reports so far refer to the ministry’s own school system. They do not say whether private schools will be included. Many expatriate children attend private schools, so if that is your situation, ask your school directly rather than assuming.
Questions not yet answered
Several practical points have not been addressed publicly:
- How students’ data will be protected.
- How the accuracy of AI-generated content will be checked.
- How teachers will be trained to use the platform.
- Whether every school has the equipment and connectivity to use it properly.
What to watch for next
The ministry says B-SERA will cover a wider range of educational and administrative services once the first phase is running. The next things to look for are a firm launch date and details of how students and parents sign in.
