Your estimated end of service benefit

An estimate based on Article 54 of Qatar Labour Law No. 14 of 2004. Your employer's final settlement may differ, for example if your contract gives more, if allowances are counted differently, or if you work in government or a free zone with its own rules.

How gratuity is calculated in Qatar

Article 54 of Labour Law No. 14 of 2004 entitles a worker who has completed at least one year of service to an end of service gratuity of:

  • At least three weeks’ basic wage (21 days) for each year of service
  • Part of a year counted pro rata
  • Worked out on the last basic salary, without housing, transport or other allowances

This is a minimum: your contract can give you more, for example a full month per year. One day’s basic pay is the monthly basic divided by 30.

Worked example

Maria’s last basic salary is QAR 6,000 a month and she has worked for 4 years. Her daily basic pay is 6,000 ÷ 30 = QAR 200.

  • 4 years × 21 days × QAR 200 = QAR 16,800

Does resigning reduce gratuity in Qatar?

No. As long as you have completed one year of service, you are entitled to gratuity whether you resign or your employer ends the contract. Your employer can, however, deduct any amounts you owe the company from it.

Who this calculator doesn’t cover

  • Government ministries and public bodies, and companies established by QatarEnergy, which have their own rules
  • Domestic workers, who are covered by a separate law
  • Qatari nationals in a pension scheme instead of gratuity

Frequently asked questions

How much gratuity will I get after 5 years in Qatar?

At least 105 days’ basic pay: 21 days for each of the 5 years. On a basic salary of QAR 6,000, that is QAR 21,000.

Is gratuity in Qatar paid on basic or total salary?

On the last basic salary. Allowances such as housing and transport are not included unless your contract says otherwise.

Do I get gratuity if I leave before one year?

No. Gratuity in Qatar starts after one full year of service with the same employer.

Can my contract give me more than three weeks a year?

Yes. Three weeks per year is the legal minimum, and many contracts give more. If yours does, use the higher figure.

Where can I complain if my gratuity isn’t paid?

You can file a complaint with the Ministry of Labour, which refers unresolved cases to the Labour Dispute Settlement Committees.
